A house fire in Tubac just west of the Tubac Golf Resort on Bernabe Circle was believed to have started in the garage Saturday afternoon. Both Green Valley Fire District and the Tubac Fire District responded, according to a Santa Cruz County sheriff directing traffic on the scene. It is unknown if the residents were at home at the time of the fire.

The Tubac Fire District has started construction on a Rio Rico area fire station, and work is anticipated to start in September on an additional Rio Rico area fire station. The Tubac Fire District includes the entire north half of Rio Rico, from Camino Ramanote north. It also covers Tumacacori, Tubac and the areas of Amado that are south of the Santa Cruz County boundary.

Sunday, June 14th was a fantastic day for a family barbeque at Ron Morris Park in Tubac. Local parents' group For Moms By Moms in Tubac organized a potluck barbeque for families to get out and enjoy the warm summer evening. The event was a big success with over 40 people attending! While the children played on the swings and slide, organizers Paula Beemer and Katie Munger got the parents together to brainstorm ideas for how to develop a new playground in Tubac. Anyone interested in participating in projects for families in Tubac and the surrounding areas should attend the next parents' meeting on July 22nd at 5:30 at the Tubac Community Center.
